Set up in 1948 by the Department of Letters of UCLy, the ILCF is located in Lyon city centre.

The Institut de Touraine was founded in 1912. It now has a team of 20 permanent teachers and 10 members of admin staff. The school is placed under the educational supervision of the University of Tours.
